Protecting the fingernails when Aging

How to protect our fingernails as we aged

Our nails are also affected by age. The ridges along the nails become more pronounced and the nails themselves may become brittle or sometimes harder. To prevent both, use almond oil to moisturize the nail bed.

High-protein food such as egg yolk, nuts and seeds, sunflower or sesame seed oil or protein in powder form will benefit the nails. Horsetail herb extracts, gelatin and brewer’s yeast are also used to improve their condition. In general, bad nutrition will adversely affect the nails.

Diseases affecting the nails include:

  • Psoriasis
  • Fungal infections
  • Certain chronic heart and lung problems

Some people claim that they have discovered a miracle cure for crumbling and aged fingernails. Prepare some warm water in a bowl and add two or three cloves of finely chopped garlic. Soak your fingernails for 10-15 minutes every few days. This is great if you can stand the smell.
