Anti-aging with the Hormone Pregnenolone

How can improve memory and bring the levels back to youthful with the hormone pregnenolone?

This hormone is produced from cholesterol and acts as a blueprint for the formation of several other hormones such as DHEA, progesterone, testosterone and oestrogen. It is used as a general anti-aging drug and to improve memory and brain cell protection, also as a stress reduction drug. It improves depression and mood and has also been used in arthritis with some success.

Pregnenolone concentrations in the human brain plummet to about 5 per cent of normal by the age of 90. Supplementation aims to bring the levels back to youthful concentrations.

During treatment, saliva or blood tests are recommended to monitor the concentration of pregnenolone in the body. The dose is anything between 10mg and 50mg, with some people recommending 200mg a day. This highlights the uncertainty surrounding this drug.

The majority of doctors are not aware of the effects of this product and are therefore unable to comment on its possible effectiveness.
