Ideal for its anti-aging benefits, yoga is a well-known Indian technique. Special yoga exercises are suitable for stretching the joints and ligaments, and some forms of weight-bearing yoga exercises help prevent osteoporosis.

Regular yoga practice helps relaxation and certain positions also boost the circulation of blood to the brain, kidneys, liver and to other vital organs. Yoga breathing exercises maximize lung capacity. The exercises are not used in order to build up muscle but to enhance general physical and mental suppleness. When you exercise you need to be aware of your breathing and try to concentrate on your inner spiritual health.

If you are new to yoga, start by reading a book describing the basic concepts.You need, however, to practise regularly, join a class or have private lessons if you wish to reap the full benefits of the exercises.

There are thousands of body positions and postures in yoga. At the last count over 80,000 different postures were identified.
