Memory Exercise with the Technique of Context

Context is a method of memory exercises which is practical for remembering past events

Chunking and Mental Imagery are two techniques which good for remembering lists of items like a shopping list. However, if you want to remember past events, you will need to use a different technique which is known as context. All you have to do with this is to restore the surroundings related to the particular event which you need to remember.

For example, you want to remember what clothes you had on during an outing two weeks ago. Why you should want to remember this is entire up to you, but in any case, you do. You should try to mentally recreate the events of that particular day. Were you alone or with relatives? Which relatives? Where did you go? Was it cold? Was it raining? Do you remember a particular detail such as your shoes getting wet or dropping food on your shirt?

Spend some time thinking around the subject, comparing dates, images and events until you come to a conclusion. Remember, this trick is not only useful for answering practical questions, but it also exercises the brain.
